A month ago, when the UP government announced that it’s going to set up a film city in the state, the denizens of Bollywood welcomed the news with open arms. And why not, as most of them hail from up North. A number of film celebs took to the social media and spoke in favour of the proposed setup. It’s been seen as a way forward, considering that the film, TV and OTT industries have all shown a considerable rise in the last few years. In an effort to further channelise the enthusiasm of the film industry, Filmfare decided to host a virtual conclave about the proposed film city. A number of prominent film personalities came forward to be part of this exchange of ideas. These included South stalwart Rajiv Menon, famous Bengali director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, internationally acclaimed actress Malavika Mohanan, head of Amazon Prime Video’s India originals Aparna Purohit, hit commercial director and producer Nikkhil Advani, and new-age directors like Neeraj Ghaywan, Amit Sharma and Amar Kaushik, who are equally versed in films as well as the OTT space. The panel was curated by Jitesh Pillaai, editor, Filmfare.
The excitement at the panel was palpable indeed. Watch it all come alive on November 12.
