A few short weeks before we finally bid Flash adieu, Adobe has rolled out one final Flash Player update. Rather than the detailed feature changes that we typically read about in patch notes, Adobe used the opportunity to give the
Many were expecting a spike in online Black Friday sales due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it’s now clearer just how large that shift really was. Adobe now estimates that internet Black Friday sales in the US jumped 21.6 percent year-over-year to hit a whopping $9 billion. That’s unsurprisingly a new record for Black Friday, and analysts weren’t shy about attributing at least some of it to the need to stay at home. In states with pandemic-related restrictions on family gatherings, online shopping over Thanksgiving and Black Friday surged 265 percent.
This wasn’t quite an all-time record for holiday shopping. It
The AWS status dashboard perhaps isn't the most reliable source of information about the outage at the minute — Amazon says the problem has affected its ability to provide updates there. “Kinesis has been experiencing increased error rates this morning in our US-East-1 Region that’s impacted some other AWS services,” Amazon told The Verge. “We are working toward resolution.”
Workplaces can also get in on the deal, with the All Apps plan for teams going for $60 monthly while single apps will run your office $25 every month. All of this is only for first-time subscribers, though — if you’ve paid up for Creative Cloud in the past, you won’t get the 20 to 25 percent for any of the individual plans, and the same is true for teams.
What you can take advantage of, however, are the non-subscription, single-app deals on Photoshop Elements 2021 and Premiere Elements 2021. From 5pm PT (8pm ET) today until December 1st those are
The reviews are in and they’re almost unanimous: Apple’s new M1 chip is blazing fast, but it’s going to take a while before the apps people depend on to do their work are optimized to take advantage of the new architecture. Case and point: Adobe’s Creative Cloud suite, which you can currently only use through Apple’s Rosetta 2 emulator, leading to a less than ideal experience. But the good news is that Adobe has released the first beta release of Photoshop for Apple Silicon.
And when Adobe says beta, it means beta. You won’t find some of the software’s most
Between things like camera shake and poor lighting, the videos you take with your phone, DSLR or mirrorless camera can end up blurry for any numbers of reasons. Worse yet, it’s difficult to sharpen a photo or video after the fact, and more often than not, the results don’t look great. However, with the help of AI, Adobe thinks it may have the solution for blurry photos and videos.
During the Sneaks portion of its Max 2020 conference, the company showed off an experimental feature called Sharp Shots that’s powered by its Sensei AI. It uses machine learning to deblur
When most people think of Lightroom, they tend to think of its capabilities as a photo editor first, but it’s the organizational features Adobe built into the Library module that separate the software from competitors like Capture One. Now that module is about to get more powerful and accessible with the help of AI.
In Lightroom Creative Cloud, Adobe is adding a feature called Best Shots. It uses an AI algorithm to first group together your images, selecting the most compelling one in any series of photos where you have several that look similar. In choosing one capture over others,
Illustrator on iPad goes a step further by automatically simplifying the curves and the number of points when you’re using Apple Pencil and the Pencil tool to make shapes. And the ability to snap the handles on points to specific degrees alongside the option to select multiple points at once makes vector work a breeze. Especially when you factor in the smart delete function for points. Not only does Illustrator cover the basics with easy-to-use tools, but it also helps you work more efficiently. Once you get the hang of things, for example, a common action pop-up will
There are six other beta filters that you can try. One called Smart Portrait allows you to change a subject's age, facial expressions, pose and more.
You'll be able to use Neural Filters to colorize black-and-white photos with content-aware color too. With the Super Zoom filter, you can increase the resolution of certain areas of portraits when you zoom in. There are also options to remove artifacts caused by JPEG compression and add simulated volumetric haze to the background of an image to make your subject stand out more.
Elsewhere, there are Sensei-powered Object Aware Refine Edge and Refine
Adobe added a livestream tool to Fresco last year, but now the company is giving you more control over the settings. More specifically, you can change the quality and dimensions of the final video. And you don’t have to draw live either: there’s a Timelapse function as well. Adobe has added a comments function in Fresco as well, so you can ask for, read and respond to comments without closing your drawing. From the same Share menu that you begin the feedback process, you can now send vector art directly to Illustrator on the desktop.
In a video example (above), Adobe demonstrated a composite image created using someone’s face keyed over a stock photo. Using the attribution tool, Photoshop could automatically tag it with the original photographer’s credit, the creator who produced the composite and the exact editing activities used — in this case, an AI assist for the key, imported assets and a transformation. However, Adobe noted that the feature can be turned off altogether, so it can only track authentic content if creators want that.
Images exported to Behance show the same information, including the app used. If you want to see more information,
