Trailer Review: Durgamati

Movie: Durgamati Cast: Bhumi Pednekar, Arshad Warsi, Mahie Gill, Jisshu Sengupta and Karan Kapadia Release Date: 11 December 2020 Trailer Rating: 2.5 stars The trailer kicks off with the introduction of Arshad Warsi as Ishwar Prasad. Ishwar is quite a popular figure amongst the public. However, there are other players in the game who want to reduce his influence. Meanwhile, the local police are shown to be investigating a series of robberies of statues from temples. We obviously get a hint that there’s some sort of conspiracy brewing here. The police officials decide to interrogate Chanchal (Bhumi Pednekar) hoping that she spills some dirt on Ishwar.

Chanchal is taken to the Durgamati mansion for the interrogation and that is when things start to get pretty eerie. Not only do we find out that the place is shrouded in secrets but, we also see Bhumi being possessed by Durgamati’s spirit.

Take a look at the trailer below.

Basically, we get the feeling that the film is a revenge drama with a big dose of horror thrown in for good measure. The South original, Bhaagmathie, starring Anushka Shetty, was a huge hit and let’s hope this one too gets picked up by the audience.
